This week’s Village Wild video series, presented by Dietrich Law, features a surprise visit from a hidden buck who leapt out and surprised a UPS delivery man.
In Klamath Falls, Oregon, a typical package delivery turned into an unforgettable wildlife encounter in September 2024. In the video, a UPS driver, on a routine stop to deliver a rescheduled package, found himself face-to-face with a large buck that had been hidden behind a cluster of bushes near the home. As the driver approached the front of the house, the deer suddenly jumped out, startling him and causing him to drop the package he was carrying as the buck ran away.
However, the unexpected leap wasn’t just a one-time event. According to the homeowners, the buck has made a habit of surprising visitors. The homeowner revealed that both he and his wife have had similar encounters, as the deer seems to favour a particular spot near the bushes to hide.
While the deer’s sudden appearance might have made anyone jump, the UPS delivery man was unharmed as was able to return to work.
This close encounter is just one example of how nature can pop up when you least expect it—even in the heart of a routine workday.
