It's time to unveil who is our first official winner of our Village Wild monthly video contest!
Thank you to all of our readers who submitted their own personal videos or video links over the past month, the response has been wild (no pun intended).
We're excited to announce that this month's winner -- who was selected at random -- is Jessie Gardiner from St. Joseph Island.
Jessie and Sebastien Oorlynck submitted a video capturing the struggle of a determined bobcat trying to break free from a chicken coop. The footage showcases the bobcat's relentless efforts to escape, clawing frantically at the window. While the bobcat eventually gains freedom, unfortunately, as confirmed by Jessie and Sebastien, the chickens did not fare as well.
Filmed in Northern Ontario, this video highlights the resilience and adaptability of these predators. The bobcat's intrusion into the coop sheds light on the challenges wildlife faces in balancing their instinctual hunting behaviours with human-made obstacles, emphasizing the harsh realities of survival in a demanding environment.
Thank you again to everyone who submitted their videos in March!
If you'd like to enter for your chance to win, here's what you need to know.
