With more freezing temperatures on the horizon for parts of Ontario, it's safe to say we're all collectively counting down until the arrival of spring.
This year, we will welcome the first day of spring on March 19th, 2024 along with the arrival of the spring equinox. However, the season and the weather may not be on the same page.
The Farmers' Almanac has just unveiled its extended spring weather forecast for 2024, and it's shaping up to be a rollercoaster ride of weather patterns across Canada. As for Ontario, you're going to want to keep those snow shovels and umbrellas within arm's reach because the province is part of what the Almanac dubs a "Polar Coaster Spring."

April And May Spring Forecast 2024
As we move from April into May, eastern Canada is in for a mix of showery conditions and continued cool weather. However, here in Ontario, get ready for a weather seesaw, with conditions alternating "from fair and dry to stormy."
Winter will be hanging on stubbornly through much of April, especially for Quebec and the Maritimes. The Almanac even hints at the possibility of a late-season snowfall over the higher terrains of Quebec, Newfoundland, and Labrador during the third week of April. And as April bids farewell, freezing temperatures may make a surprise appearance in the Prairie Provinces.
As we slide into May, the East should expect persistent showery weather, occasional rumbles of thunder, and an overall cool vibe. Ontario, in particular, is slated to experience a weather mixtape, ranging "from fair and dry to stormy."
The Prairies and even British Columbia won't be left out of the action, with unsettled and showery conditions predicted for the former and cool, cloudy, damp days in store for the latter.
