To many, cucumbers are just a household kitchen staple, but to one Canadian TikTok foodie, they've become his entire brand.

Logan Moffitt, an Ottawa, ON, local, began sharing his cucumber recipe videos on TikTok in 2021, and they quickly went viral, earning him over 4.7 million followers.

From his take on the cucumber salad at the popular chain Din Tai Fung to his unique mix of cucumber, cream cheese, and smoked salmon (which racked up over 22 million views), Logan’s recipes have captured the internet’s attention. No matter the flavour combination, his signature approach typically involves using a whole cucumber and assembling his salads in a deli cup.

Easiest way to make an entire cucumber

If you’ve noticed the recent cucumber craze on social media or are simply curious about the hype, here’s how to recreate one of Logan’s viral cucumber salad recipes.

True to his style, this salad is made in a 32-ounce deli takeout container—just add the ingredients, snap on the lid, give it a shake, and enjoy. And if there are any leftovers (though it’s unlikely), you can pop the lid back on and store the salad in the fridge. Of course, a deli cup isn’t required—a mixing bowl or mason jar works just as well.

  • Everything but the bagel seasoning

  1. Grab an entire cucumber and slice it thinly on a mandoline. Add the sliced cucumber to your deli container, mason jar, or mixing bowl.
  2. Add in a hefty dollop of cream cheese, sliced red onion, capers, diced avocado, and chopped smoked salmon.
  3. Season with everything bagel seasoning, salt and pepper, and a pinch of MSG.
  4. Pop the lid on your container and shake until everything is well-distributed.
  5. Take the lid off and dig in!
